Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Valid interpreter license for educational settings
- Experience in elementary school environments strongly preferred
- Comfortable with 1:1 student support
- Proficient in visual supports and expressive, clear signing
- Patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic about working with young children
- Open to interviewing travel candidates from other regions
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, personalized sign language interpretation for a Kindergartner throughout the school day (approx. 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)
- Facilitate communication between the student and teachers, peers, and staff
- Utilize a range of visual supports and adaptive strategies to meet the student’s individual needs
- Assist in building the student’s confidence and signing abilities as they develop new skills
- Collaborate closely with educational teams to create an inclusive, supportive environment
