Essential Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter license issued by the state of North Carolina
- Proven experience interpreting for children or young adults in a school setting
- Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong receptive and expressive abilities
- Proficient at following IEP accommodations and collaborating with educators
- Organized, reliable, and adaptable to changing classroom activities and needs
- Positive, supportive approach to working with students, families, and educational teams
- Able to work fully onsite throughout the school year term
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom lessons and school-related communications in real time
- Support D/HH students’ academic and social engagement by clearly conveying spoken and signed content
- Collaborate with special education teams, general educators, and parents to ensure consistent support
- Accurately adhere to confidentiality and professional standards at all times
