An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated support to a 5th-grade student in a general education environment. This contract role runs from September 10th, 2026 through May 26th, 2027, offering a consistent full-time schedule of 7:30am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday. You’ll work in a collaborative elementary school setting near Kennesaw, GA, focusing on one-on-one educational support to ensure the student’s full participation and access to learning.
Key Qualifications:
- Possess current GaPSC Sign Language Interpreter Educator Certification
- Successful completion of district-required fingerprinting
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within a school setting, preferably working directly with students in classrooms
- Advanced fluency in American Sign Language and skill in facilitating communication between students, peers, and staff
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a 1:1 interpreter for a 5th-grade male student throughout the school day, supporting classroom instruction, activities, and peer interaction
- Accurately convey spoken English into sign language and interpret student responses to staff and classmates
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to meet the student’s academic and social communication needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment to maximize student engagement and success
