Key Qualifications:
- Active GaPSC SLI Educator Certification
- Ability to successfully complete district fingerprinting requirements
- Prior experience working as a sign language interpreter in a school environment is highly desirable
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and the ability to facilitate effective communication in a classroom setting
- Professionalism, reliability, and a passion for supporting students with unique learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a 5th grade male student throughout the school day, interpreting classroom instruction and facilitating communication with peers and staff
- Support the student’s active participation and engagement in a general education classroom
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to ensure seamless communication and support
- Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards at all times
- Adapt interpreting techniques as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the student
This position runs 7:30am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week, providing a steady routine that aligns with the school calendar.
