Sign Language Interpreter in Lacey, WA

Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting skills in educational settings
- Experience supporting deaf or hard-of-hearing high school students preferred
- National or state certification for sign language interpreting (e.g., EIPA, RID, NIC, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of educational terminology and classroom communication needs
- Ability to follow ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational abilities and adaptability in dynamic school environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for one high school student during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
- Collaborate closely with general education and special education staff to facilitate clear communication
- Assist the student in accessing curriculum, participation, and engagement in all school settings
- Support the implementation of the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) as it pertains to interpreting services
- Accurately interpret spoken and signed communication while maintaining professional boundaries
- Contribute to meetings and coordinate with educational teams as needed
