Make an immediate impact supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) students as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter at an elementary school site in the Lehigh Acres area. This full-time, contract assignment offers the chance to facilitate accessible communication in a welcoming school environment, collaborating directly with students who benefit from your expertise. The position runs from August 11, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with up to 37.5 hours per week at a single elementary school.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification with a minimum EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- Experience working in K-5 educational settings, especially supporting DHH students
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, staff, and families
- Ability to work onsite, as this role is not open to virtual or remote arrangements
- Successful completion of Florida school district fingerprinting requirements and eligibility to obtain a JLA badge (processing can take up to 10 business days)
- Adaptability and dependability in fast-paced school environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group sign language interpretation for students attending Allen Park Elementary
- Foster inclusive learning by ensuring DHH students’ full participation in classroom and school activities
- Serve as a communication bridge between students, teachers, and peers
- Maintain ethical standards of confidentiality and professionalism
- Support IEP goals in collaboration with the educational team
