Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Hold an EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within a school setting is highly valued
- Comfort and skill working 1:1 and with small student groups
- Solid understanding of Deaf culture and practices as they relate to educational environments
- Ability to complete all pre-employment and school district credentialing requirements, including fingerprinting and securing a JLA badge as needed
- Professionalism, dependability, and strong interpersonal communication with students, staff, and family members
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for DHH students in classroom and group settings
- Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to facilitate full student participation in curriculum and activities
- Adapt interpreting approaches based on individual student needs and age groups
- Maintain clear and confidential communication regarding student progress with appropriate personnel
- Ensure compliance with school district policies regarding accessibility and student services
