Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Lodi, California
Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to an educational setting where your skills will make a direct impact on students’ daily experiences. Multiple contract opportunities are available for the upcoming 26/27 school year, working closely with general education students in a supportive, collaborative environment.
In this role, you'll provide dedicated 1:1 interpreting for students throughout the school day, from 7:40am to 2:00pm, and may also support in various classrooms to ensure consistent access and communication. You’ll be joining a team of professionals committed to enabling student success and inclusion, making a real difference every single day.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA score of 4.0 or higher (required)
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within a school setting
- Strong understanding of educational environments and the ability to work with general education students
- Ability to be flexible and work both one-on-one and as a floating interpreter across classrooms
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction and school activities for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Foster inclusive participation by enabling clear communication between students, educators, and peers
- Support students in general education classrooms, adapting to various subject areas and instructional methods
- Collaborate with school staff and other interpreters to provide seamless, comprehensive support
- Assist in additional classrooms as needed, contributing to a positive, accessible learning environment
This position offers stability with a consistent weekly schedule of 32.5 hours, providing the opportunity to build rapport with students and staff over the school year.
