Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Magalia, California
Exciting opportunities are available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support students in educational settings for the remainder of the school year. Multiple contract positions are open, providing valuable services to schools for 30 hours per week. Flexibility is offered for a range of experience levels; candidates with or without EIPA/RID eligibility are invited to apply. Compensation will be commensurate with certifications and qualifications.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (AA)
- Previous experience in educational or school settings is a plus, but not required
- EIPA or RID certification is strongly valued, but not mandatory
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative mindset and adaptability in classroom environments
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English into ASL and vice versa to facilitate communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Provide interpreting services during classroom instruction, school activities, assemblies, and meetings as assigned
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and students to ensure access to the curriculum
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics in all interactions
- Participate in IEP meetings and relevant professional development when required
