Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Montrose, Colorado
Step into a vital role supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students for the 2026–2027 academic year. Two full-time, onsite Sign Language Interpreters are needed to foster an inclusive learning environment throughout a district near Montrose, CO. You’ll be instrumental in bridging communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers, ensuring equitable access to instructional content, school activities, and extracurricular events.
Your fluency in American Sign Language allows you to interpret classroom instruction, school assemblies, meetings, and a variety of educational events. Collaborating closely with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers, you’ll help pave the way for student success and meaningful participation in daily school life.
Key Qualifications:
- Colorado Educational Interpreter Authorization or eligibility to obtain;
- Associate’s degree or higher in Educational Interpreting, ASL, or a related field;
- Completion of the EIPA Written Examination;
- EIPA Performance Score of 3.5+ or current RID Certification;
- Ability to fulfill all district and state employment requirements, including background screening;
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide ASL interpretation throughout the instructional day
- Facilitate communication for students in classrooms, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Protect confidentiality in line with FERPA and district guidelines
- Collaborate with educators and related service providers
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing class materials
- Uphold high professional and ethical standards in educational interpreting
Schedule:
- Full-time, onsite
- Monday through Friday, following the district’s academic calendar
