Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, OR
- EIPA score of 4.0 or above, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment, OR
- Candidates with an EIPA under 4.0 will be referred to as ASL Paras
- Experience facilitating communication for hard of hearing and deaf students in educational settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret communication (sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign) between students, peers, and staff
- Assist students in academic and vocational settings (reading, writing, math, life skills)
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students in Middle and High School (preference considered)
- Monitor students during classroom, outdoor, and community activities
- Full time, onsite assignment: Approx. 30 hours/week (6 hours/day)
