Step into a dynamic, contract opportunity supporting students with hearing differences in an engaging school environment near Paradise, CA. As a specialized member of the educational team, you will make a meaningful impact by facilitating seamless communication for hard of hearing and deaf students in middle and high school settings. This onsite position offers full-time hours—approximately 30 hours per week across the academic year—providing consistency and the chance to build trusting relationships with the students you serve.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or minimum score of 4.0 on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment
- EIPA scores under 4.0 considered for ASL Paraeducator roles
- Ability to provide accurate voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice interpreting
- Experience assisting students in reading, writing, math, and/or life skills preferred
- Comfortable monitoring students during classroom, outdoor, and community activities
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach with educators and peers
- Preference to work with middle or high school students (please specify)
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers to ensure equitable classroom participation
- Support deaf and hard of hearing students in both academic and social activities
- Adapt support style to fit individual student needs, including vocational and daily living skills assistance
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Uphold school and district policies regarding student safety and well-being
