Desired Qualifications:
- NAD Certification or EIPA Certification with a minimum score of 4.0
- Demonstrated capability in both expressive and receptive sign language interpretation
- Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting preferred
- Understanding of the needs, rights, and culture of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to varied classroom environments and student needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation in classroom and school-based settings
- Work one-on-one and in group settings to facilitate communication for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Support instruction and classroom engagement by interpreting teacher lessons, class discussions, and school activities
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other interpreters to enhance student participation and success
- Serve as an advocate for student access, confidentiality, and inclusion
- Maintain ongoing documentation as required and participate in team meetings when needed
