Make a meaningful impact as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting elementary students for the upcoming academic year. This full-time, school-based contract position covers 35 hours per week (Monday through Friday) in the Virginia Beach area, with assignments beginning August 25, 2026, and running through June 15, 2027.
As an interpreter, you will be matched 1:1 with students, primarily at the elementary level. Your expertise will be needed across various school locations as assignments may shift based on student attendance, ensuring vital communication support wherever needed. While experience with Visaphonics is valued, it is not a mandatory skill.
Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III required.
- EIPA Score of 3.5 is preferred; candidates with a 3.0 or higher are encouraged to apply.
- Alternatively, a QAS Score of 3 or better is accepted.
- Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in educational settings, especially with younger students, is strongly desired.
- Adept interpersonal and organizational abilities for flexible campus assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, clear sign language interpretation between students and school staff in educational settings.
- Provide primary support to assigned elementary students, adapting to various campus locations as needed.
- Assist in classroom, small group, or one-on-one situations, ensuring effective communication.
- Maintain professional standards and confidentiality at all times.
