Key Qualifications:
- Previous experience interpreting in K-12 settings highly desired, especially with elementary-age students
- Proficiency in American Sign Language; comfort with Visaphonics is valued, though not required
- Current VA Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III required
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher strongly preferred; applicants with scores above 3.0 will be considered for interview
- Alternatively, a QAS score of 3 or better is acceptable
- Flexible, solution-oriented mindset—assignments may change depending on student needs, with potential to provide coverage at multiple campuses
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, student-centered sign language interpreting services in school settings
- Facilitate clear, effective communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Adapt to changes in assignments, providing interpretation wherever needed within the district
- Collaborate with educational teams to support student IEPs and communication goals
