Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Previous experience working in educational settings, particularly at the middle school level, is preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical interpreting standards
- Flexible approach, able to adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs
- Available to start as soon as possible
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Support student comprehension, engagement, and participation during lessons and school events
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure proper communication access and advocate for student needs
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing subject materials and vocabulary in advance
- Maintain accurate records and follow school policies regarding student privacy and accommodation plans
