Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Full-Time | School-Based Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and fluent Sign Language Interpreter to provide 1:1 support for a middle school student transitioning from a school for the deaf into a traditional educational setting. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping a student fully access classroom instruction and daily school interactions.
Assignment Details
- Position: Sign Language Interpreter
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: May 27, 2027
- Schedule: Monday-Friday
- Hours: Approximately 7:00 AM - 1:45/2:00 PM
- Student Caseload: 1:1 Middle School Student
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time ASL interpretation throughout the school day.
- Accompany the student to classes, activities, and school events as needed.
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and peer interactions to ensure full access to the educational environment.
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to school policies.
Qualifications
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
- Ability to pass all school-required background checks.
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings is preferred.
- EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
