Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Plainfield, New Jersey

Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is a plus
- Demonstrated fluency in ASL and English
- EIPA score that meets New Jersey standards or possession of a national interpreter certification is preferred
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is a strong advantage
- Comprehensive understanding of Deaf culture and the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Ability to pass all mandatory New Jersey background checks
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL for students, teachers, and staff
- Support instructional learning in a variety of settings, ranging from classrooms to assemblies
- Work alongside educators, administrators, and teams to promote student engagement
- Advocate for student access, accommodations, and inclusion
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to industry standards and ethical guidelines
