You’ll play a key role in ensuring equitable communication access for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students in the classroom, working on-site or virtually (VOCO considered), though preference is given to in-person candidates.
Qualifications:
- Current credential as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum score of 3.5 EIPA required
- Experience working in middle school or educational environments preferred
- Comfortable providing 1:1 support
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Open to both voice interpreting and sign
What you’ll do:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for a middle school student within classroom and school activities
- Assist with communication during instructional time, school events, and other educational settings
- Collaborate closely with teaching staff and student support teams
- Adapt to student needs and support their active engagement in the learning process
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
