Make a significant impact in the educational journey of a high school student by providing essential sign language interpretation services. This contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 academic year, offering a meaningful role supporting students with special needs in an adaptive classroom setting. Work closely onsite to ensure accessible communication and a supportive learning environment for a student who uses a wheelchair, as well as potentially offering 1:1 services as details evolve.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, with strong experience in school-based settings
- EIPA score of 3.5 or above (candidates with lower scores may be considered upon further discussion)
- Ability to provide support and interpretation for students with physical and communication needs
- Commitment to interpreting in-person (no virtual services, per family request)
- Adaptability for varying assignments within the classroom, including communication assistance for additional students as needed
- Familiarity working with students with special needs highly valued
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate sign language interpretation for a high school student in an adaptive classroom
- Support individualized educational plans and provide compensatory services in the classroom environment
- Adapt communicative approaches to ensure full participation and understanding
- Maintain professionalism while collaborating with teaching staff, therapy teams, and families
- Responsively adjust to 1:1 support needs as assignments are clarified
- Adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards in the educational setting
