The upcoming 2026-2027 academic year offers four contract opportunities to interpret in classrooms, ensuring accessible learning for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Successful candidates will be placed in one of several collaborative school communities—ranging from elementary to high school—each fostering a culture of inclusion. This is a full-time position, with 37.5 hours per week, providing the stability of the academic calendar from early August through late May.
Key Qualifications:
- Current proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5
- Experience interpreting in school settings strongly preferred
- Ability to facilitate communication for students, staff, and families
- Flexible, adaptable, and professional demeanor
- Strong ethical standards and respect for confidentiality
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent interpersonal skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English to sign language and vice versa for students in academic and extra-curricular settings
- Support teacher instruction, student participation, and classroom management
- Assist in bridging communication between students, staff, and families
- Collaborate with special education teams and share insights on promoting inclusive practices
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation as needed
- Uphold student privacy and promote a positive learning experience
- Participate in school-based meetings and ongoing training opportunities
