Sign Language Interpreter in Rincon, GA

Seeking an enthusiastic professional with expertise in sign language interpretation to support a student in an adaptive classroom setting. This rewarding contract opportunity is available for the upcoming school year and will focus on providing communication services to a high school student who uses a wheelchair. You'll collaborate with educational staff and ensure the student has full access to the classroom environment. This is an onsite-only role, designed to offer consistent, in-person support at the direction of the student's family.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (please inquire if your score is lower)
- Experience working in special education or classroom settings, especially with students who have physical and adaptive needs
- Ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to providing in-person, onsite interpretation services (no virtual/remote options)
- Excellent time management and professionalism in an educational setting
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation between staff, student, and classmates within an adaptive classroom
- Facilitate student access to curriculum, social-emotional interactions, and class participation
- Support a high schooler who uses a wheelchair, adapting communication as needed for their individual learning plan
- Provide comprehensive communication services, potentially 1:1, while respecting confidentiality and supporting educational goals
- Collaborate closely with teaching staff, support personnel, and families to ensure the student’s needs are continually met
