Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Roscoe, Illinois

Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills
- EIPA score of 3.0 or above required
- PEL (Professional Educator License) for school interpreting; candidates may apply if license is in progress or already active
- Previous experience working in educational settings or with DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) students is highly desirable
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt interpreting techniques to meet dynamic classroom needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school events for a student or small groups as needed
- Facilitate clear communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, educators, and staff
- Collaborate closely with teaching teams, special educators, and related service providers to support each student’s learning goals
- Advocate for access and understanding within the school setting
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Stay current with best practices and ongoing professional development in the field
