Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Rosenberg, Texas
Looking for a meaningful way to use your sign language expertise? This contract opportunity calls for motivated Sign Language Interpreters to support students across two educational campuses, starting the 2026-2027 school year. These positions will collaborate closely with students, teachers, and staff, ensuring clear communication and full participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in all school activities.
In this role, you'll provide essential interpretation during classroom instruction, extracurriculars like choir, dance, and cheerleading—and at critical meetings such as ARDs. One full-time opening covers junior high (9am–4:30pm, Mon–Fri), while a flexible part-time role is available to ensure coverage for after-school and seasonal activities.
Desired Experience & Credentials:
- Current interpreter certification from either the Registry for the Deaf or Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Experience with children, ideally in school or educational settings
- Ability to adapt to each student’s communication style and needs
- Willingness to complete fingerprinting for credentialing if not previously done
Responsibilities Will Include:
- Interpreting during instruction, meetings, and special events across assigned schools
- Assisting with tutoring hearing-impaired students as needed
- Supporting students during extracurricular activities, including seasonal events
- Helping monitor and manage student behavior and stepping in during crisis situations
- Maintaining confidentiality of all student information and adhering to district policies
- Participating in ongoing professional development and team meetings
