Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Interpreter certification from Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or TX Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in educational settings
- Flexibility to support occasional extracurricular activities outside of standard school hours
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to each student’s preferred signing method
- Ability to successfully complete required fingerprinting and background checks
Responsibilities:
- Interpret in classrooms, co-curricular events, meetings, conferences, and school programs
- Support students during extracurricular activities, with increased hours expected in spring for football season
- Attend ARD Committee meetings as needed and assist in tutoring under teacher supervision
- Maintain administrative records, prepare reports, and uphold strict confidentiality
- Monitor and support student behavior, intervening in crisis situations when necessary
- Collaborate with teachers regarding students’ unique needs or concerns
- Participate in development sessions, staff meetings, and school events
