Key Qualifications:
- Completion of interpreter training required
- IEPA assessment score of 3.5 or higher is mandatory
- All state and district licensure requirements must be met prior to application
- Experience in K-12 educational settings strongly preferred
- Collaborative, communicative approach, with flexibility regarding caseloads and grade levels
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for students in classroom and instructional settings, supporting effective communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Work closely with DHH professionals, educators, and support staff to tailor interpreting services based on individual and group student needs
- Adapt to assignment details and caseloads as determined (preferences for sites and grade levels will be considered)
- Maintain confidentiality, follow educational best practices, and comply with all district policies
