Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Statesville, North Carolina

For the upcoming academic year, a contract role is available for a dedicated interpreter to support a young student at Troutman Elementary. The position runs from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027.
This onsite position requires a commitment to a Monday through Friday schedule, from 7:00am to 2:30pm, totaling 35 hours per week. Your role will be pivotal each day as you arrive in advance of the student, ensuring readiness to facilitate seamless communication from the moment the student enters the building.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5, or hold RID certification (RID certification holders are eligible regardless of EIPA status)
- Previous experience working in an elementary or school setting is a plus
- Strong sense of punctuality and preparedness
- Passion for supporting student success and fostering inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, clear, and culturally appropriate interpretation services for a single elementary student throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and family members to support the student’s educational goals
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the profession
- Arrive prior to student each day to ensure optimal readiness
