Sign Language Interpreter in Statesville, NC
Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a vibrant educational environment and support student success throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. This contracted position encompasses the entire school calendar from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. Working Monday through Friday, you'll be an essential part of the school community, providing interpreting services for a single elementary student, ensuring a consistent, supportive presence each day from 7:00am until 2:30pm.
You'll deliver your skills onsite, engaging directly with students and staff, while enjoying steady hours during school days. Your professionalism and dedication will help foster an inclusive atmosphere that empowers learners.
Required Qualifications:
- Active SLI license
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or possession of RID certification
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting in educational settings
- Strong commitment to punctuality and preparedness
- Prior experience working with school-aged children (preferred)
- Ability to provide services exclusively in-person (no virtual or remote work)
Role Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken communication for a student at an elementary school on a consistent caseload
- Arrive ahead of student arrival to prepare for the school day
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families to facilitate communication access
- Maintain professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
- Support student engagement and participation across classroom activities and school events
