Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter in the Stockton, CA area. This full academic year position is ideal for professionals experienced in educational interpreting who are committed to providing outstanding access and communication for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Your role will span from August 2026 to May 2027, covering 30 hours per week across five days. In this dynamic setting, you’ll collaborate with students, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to foster effective communication and an inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications & Credentials:
- Current 4.0 EIPA Score or Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification required
- Demonstrated proficiency in sign language interpretation within an educational setting
- Valid credentials and current certifications consistent with school requirements
- Experience working with K-12 students preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate interpretation between students, staff, and peers in a variety of classroom and school-wide situations
- Adapt interpreting styles to meet the unique language needs of individual students
- Collaborate with the education team to support student learning and participation
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all school-related activities
- Document services as required by the school or district
