This position focuses on providing essential communication access to elementary-aged students in an educational setting. Key Qualifications:
- Completed VA Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III required.
- Strong preference for candidates with an EIPA Score of 3.5 or above, though the district will consider interpreters with a score over 3.0 for interviews, or those with a QAS score of at least 3.
- Familiarity with Visaphonics is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in school settings or with elementary age groups is highly valued.
- Capable of adapting to various campus locations as needed, to provide coverage based on student attendance.
- Commitment to maintaining professional ethics and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 sign language interpreting services for assigned students, primarily at the elementary level.
- Support the student’s full inclusion in academic and school activities by accurately conveying spoken and signed communication.
- Serve as a flexible resource across multiple campuses if the primary student is absent.
- Proactively collaborate with educational teams and participate in relevant meetings or training as needed.
- Adapt interpreting methods to best serve students’ communication and learning preferences.
