A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within a school setting. This role is based in Chicago, IL, and involves facilitating clear and effective communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students during virtual learning sessions and related telehealth interactions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and professional sign language interpreting services during telehealth sessions within the educational environment
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and healthcare professionals to ensure all students have equal access to communication and educational content
- Understand and convey both technical and educational terminology accurately in sign language
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards concerning student information and communication
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with formal certification or state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Prior experience interpreting in school or educational telehealth settings preferred
- Knowledge of telecommunication platforms used for virtual learning and therapy sessions
