Sign Language Interpreter in Thousand Oaks, CA

Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and knowledge of interpreting practices
- Previous experience interpreting in educational or school settings is highly valued
- Certified or credentialed as a Sign Language Interpreter (state or national certification preferred)
- Comfortable interpreting lessons, group discussions, and individualized instruction
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, collaborating closely with teachers and students
- Ability to manage responsibilities across a high school caseload
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate interpretation for students and staff in classroom settings and school events
- Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs and educational content
- Assist in creating an inclusive environment that supports student learning and participation
- Serve as a communicative bridge between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students, peers, and educators
- Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and ethics at all times
- Collaborate with teaching teams and participate in meetings, as necessary, to support student success
This position is based at a single high school location, offering a consistent schedule of approximately 30 hours per week for the full academic year.
