1:1 Sign Language Interpreter in Troy, NY

Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, particularly in a K-12 or educational environment
- Strong understanding of working 1:1 with non-verbal students or those requiring individualized communication support
- Knowledge of best practices for interpreting in a school, ideally elementary grade levels
- Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive environment for students with diverse learning needs
- Relevant certification or credentials as required by state and district guidelines
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time sign language interpretation for a non-verbal elementary student in a self-contained classroom
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, peers, and school staff
- Support classroom instruction, activities, and any necessary transitions throughout the school day
- Contribute to student development by aiding comprehension and participation in both academic and social settings
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
