Qualifications:
- Active license or certification to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter
- ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or above
- Experience in 1:1 educational settings, especially with pediatric populations
- Familiarity with the unique needs and nuances of school-based assignments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable collaborating with teachers, staff, and student family members
- Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, and fostering inclusivity
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and accurate ASL interpreting for a specific student during all classroom activities and school events
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, peers, and faculty
- Adapt interpreting techniques to suit the student’s developmental level and educational requirements
- Contribute insights as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the student’s academic and social engagement
- Maintain detailed documentation and participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings as needed
- Promote student self-advocacy while ensuring full access to educational content and activities
