Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Waukegan, Illinois
Empower students across multiple districts near Waukegan, IL, supporting their education and communication needs as a Sign Language Interpreter. What we’re seeking:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience in an educational setting
- Previous work as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in schools
- Ability to adapt communication style to suit diverse age groups (EC–12th grade)
- Strong organizational skills, as the role will require travel between multiple school sites
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
Role responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students and staff during classes, school events, and meetings
- Travel to different districts within Lake County as needed throughout the school year
- Support communication between students, peers, and teachers across a caseload of approximately 12 to 18 students
- Participate in team meetings to support student IEPs and coordinate services
- Ensure a supportive, inclusive environment for all students
The position follows a consistent weekday schedule from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a guaranteed 7.5-hour workday including lunch.
