Sign Language Interpreter
Location: Winston-Salem, NC

Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Educational Sign Language Interpreter to provide interpreting services for students in educational settings throughout the Winston-Salem area. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting student success, demonstrates professionalism, and can facilitate effective communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and their educational teams.
Responsibilities
Provide accurate and effective sign language interpreting in classroom and school-related settings.
Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
Collaborate with educators and support staff to promote student access and inclusion.
Attend meetings, trainings, and school events as assigned.
Maintain professional conduct and reliable attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors level degree in ASL or Education Interpreting
Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certification with a minimum score of 3.5 (required).
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
Experience interpreting in K–12 educational settings preferred.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to pass required background checks and meet all state and district employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with students in public or private school settings.
Knowledge of educational terminology and classroom procedures.
