Step into an impactful role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in an educational environment. This contract opportunity begins August 12, 2026, and continues through June 4, 2027, offering a consistent, onsite schedule of 35 hours per week. You will work directly with a K-12 student at a single school location, providing essential one-on-one interpreting services. The specific assignment will be tailored to your prior experience and personal preferences within the K-12 caseload.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) certification and/or license in California
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher
- Comfortable supporting students in a school-based setting
- Experience in K-12 educational interpreting preferred, but all qualified applicants will be considered
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time sign language interpretation for a student, fostering accessible communication throughout the academic day
- Adapt to varying classroom content and age levels, ensuring clear and accurate translation
- Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to provide an inclusive learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting in an educational setting
- Participate in IEP meetings as needed and support student progress documentation
