What you’ll bring:
- EIPA score of 3.5+ with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval, or EIPA 3.0-3.4 accepted with interim ISBE Interim Approval
- BEI or NIC credential holders welcomed with ISBE Approval
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting within K-12 settings
- Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and professional ethics
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with educators, students, and support staff
- Willingness to be onsite in school environments daily
What you’ll do:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for high school students, ensuring equitable access to learning
- Work with a dynamic caseload (approximately 12 students, usually 1:1 student/class interpretation)
- Foster clear communication between students, instructors, and peers in academic and extracurricular settings
- Adapt interpreting strategies for individual student needs and varying subject matter
- Participate in IEP meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development as required
- Maintain accurate records and support the educational goals of students and teams
Choose the schedule that fits your life:
- Full-time: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-3:30pm, splitting time between two school sites
- Part-time: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-12:00pm, at a single high school campus
