A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter eager to make a difference in a student’s educational journey. This full-time, on-site position involves providing dedicated 1:1 interpretation for an 11th-grade student throughout the entire 2022-2023 school year, supporting their participation and engagement in all classes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or Education Interpreting
- Valid EIPA, RID, or NID certification
- Previous experience interpreting in a school setting strongly desired
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to professionalism and confidentiality
- Reliability and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
What you’ll do:
- Deliver clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL during academic activities, class discussions, and educational events
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers to foster inclusion and learning
- Collaborate closely with educational staff to ensure the student’s unique needs are met
- Maintain consistent support throughout the academic day, contributing positively to the student’s school experience
- Adhere to ethical interpreting standards and school policies
