Qualifications:
- Hold current licensure with the Kansas Commission on Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Possess an EIPA score of 4.0 or above
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and able to model clear expressive and receptive skills
- Experience interpreting in educational environments, preferably at the elementary level
- Strong understanding of student confidentiality, inclusion, and classroom dynamics
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for a fourth grader who is new to ASL, ensuring full access to classroom instruction and interactions
- Collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and support personnel to foster an inclusive learning environment
- Adapt interpreting techniques as needed to match the student’s growing language skills and support academic engagement
- Facilitate communication for the student during both instructional and extracurricular activities
- Maintain accurate records of interpreting services as required by school and district guidelines
