Ideal candidates will possess the following:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher (required)
- Experience in educational or pediatric interpreting, preferably 1:1 support
- Current licensure in Sign Language Interpreting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster connections with students, educators, and families
- Flexibility to adapt to changing classroom needs and settings
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing clear, accurate American Sign Language interpretation for a designated student throughout the school day
- Collaborating closely with teachers, staff, and other professionals to ensure inclusive access to instruction and activities
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Supporting the student’s academic, social, and emotional development in classroom and extracurricular settings
- Proactively preparing for lessons and events to facilitate full participation
