Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Kansas City, Kansas

You'll engage with a 4th-grade student who is beginning their journey as an ASL learner. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., making this a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills during standard school hours.
Key Qualifications:
- Current license with the Kansas Commission on Deaf/Hard of Hearing is required
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to support and adapt to students who are new to ASL
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in school environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, effective sign language interpretation for a 4th-grade student in all classroom and school-related activities
- Bridge communication between the student, school staff, and peers to facilitate an inclusive learning environment
- Support the development of the student’s ASL skills, offering encouragement and guidance
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure full participation for the student
- Adhere to ethical interpreting standards and school policies
