Qualifications Needed:
- Valid license from the Kansas Commission on Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Minimum 4.0 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience in K-12 educational settings preferred
- Ability to foster positive communication and relationships with students, teachers, and families
- Commitment to supporting students’ educational and social development
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for a 4th-grade student, adapting communication styles as needed
- Translate spoken language into ASL and vice versa during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure clear, effective communication
- Support the student’s language acquisition and confidence as an emerging ASL user
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and legal requirements
