Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current license through the Kansas Commission on Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Prior experience as an educational sign language interpreter preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in school settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct sign language interpretation for a 4th-grade student learning ASL
  • Facilitate communication between student, peers, and staff during the school day
  • Support the student’s understanding of curriculum, instructions, and classroom activities
  • Adapt interpreting methods to individual student needs
  • Participate in team meetings to support student progress
