Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational environment preferred
- National Interpreter Certification (NIC), EIPA, or relevant state certifications
- Familiarity with educational terminology and classroom protocols
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for working with diverse teams
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites as part of the daily schedule
- Professional discretion and respect for student confidentiality
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities to facilitate clear communication between deaf/hard of hearing students and others
- Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to promote student success
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant materials and planning for specialized vocabulary
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the needs of individual students and varying educational settings
- Support students during assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed
- Maintain accurate records and participate in team meetings when appropriate
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality at all times
