Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Previous experience interpreting within K-12 schools highly preferred
- Compliance with state and national certification standards for sign language interpreting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and families
- Flexibility to adapt to different age groups, classroom settings, and levels of signing proficiency
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and events for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers in academic and non-academic settings
- Travel between multiple school sites as assigned, ensuring consistent support
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and display professionalism in all interactions
