Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills in educational settings
- Current certification or credentials required for school-based interpreting (such as EIPA, RID, or state certifications)
- Experience working with students in K-12 environments preferred
- Compassion, adaptability, and commitment to inclusion and equal access for all learners
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and families across multiple locations
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, as you will rotate between different sites based on student needs
What You’ll Do:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for classroom instruction, school assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Facilitate two-way communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and school personnel
- Support students’ academic and social participation by interpreting directions, lectures, discussions, and peer interactions
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for interpreters in educational settings
- Travel between assigned school sites as scheduled, ensuring reliable and consistent service
- Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies for equitable access
