Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid and current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or above is required
- Previous experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations strongly preferred
- Skilled in providing 1:1 support to students with diverse needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time ASL interpretation services for a designated pediatric student during classroom activities, school functions, and individual sessions
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, peers, and staff by accurately interpreting spoken and signed language
- Adapt interpreting techniques to fit the educational context and student’s developmental level
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times
- Collaborate with educational staff to support the student's academic and social success
- Contribute to the development of accommodation plans to maximize student participation and engagement
