Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Chehalis, WA
Combine your passion for supporting student success with your expertise in sign language interpretation in this rewarding full-time contract opportunity. Work closely with a high school student, providing essential communication support and ensuring access to an inclusive educational environment for the 2026-27 school year.
This position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, totaling approximately 32.5 hours per week. You'll split your time between 1-2 school sites within a short drive of each other, fostering strong relationships within the school community. The contract runs from the first week of September 2026 through mid-June 2027, with the option to start onboarding ahead of the academic year.
Qualifications:
- EIPA score of at least 3.5, meeting required proficiency standards
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
- Skills in interpreting for classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and daily communication
- Flexibility to work at multiple campus locations as needed
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpretation for a high school student in academic classes, school events, and interactions
- Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance classroom accessibility
- Support the student's engagement and participation across a variety of educational settings
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all school environments
- Prepare for assignments and participate in pre-service meetings on September 1 and 2 before classes begin on September 3
