Put your expertise in sign language interpretation to meaningful use in an educational setting, working directly with a high school student for the academic school year. This contract opportunity is ideal for interpreters who are passionate about facilitating communication and promoting student success in the classroom.
Qualifications:
- EIPA Score of 3.5 or higher
- Experience in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter or American Sign Language Teacher preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and educational staff
- Reliable transportation; willing to travel between 1-2 nearby school sites (approximately 20 minutes apart)
- Strong communication, adaptability, and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation in academic and extracurricular settings for a high school student
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards relevant to educational interpreting
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to facilitate student learning
- Support classroom instruction and actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed
- Uphold clear and effective communication between the student, staff, and peers
- Follow the full-time schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:30am–2:30pm; Friday, 7:30am–1:30pm, totaling approximately 32.5 hours per week
- Attend orientation days on September 1st and 2nd; first day of school is September 3rd; contract extends through June 15, 2027
