Sign Language Interpreter in Rochester, WA
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting education! A dedicated Sign Language Interpreter is needed to provide direct services to a high school student at one or two school sites in the Rochester, WA area. This full-time position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, working approximately 32.5 hours per week (Monday-Thursday 7:30am–2:30pm, Friday 7:30am–1:30pm). Your impactful work will begin with orientation on September 1st and 2nd, followed by the first day of school on September 3rd, stretching through June 15, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- EIPA Score of at least 3.5 required
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language
- Experience serving as a classroom interpreter and/or teaching ASL is highly desirable
- Ability to adapt communication styles to suit student needs
- Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and fostering an inclusive learning environment
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing real-time sign language interpretation for a high school student during classroom instruction and school activities
- Collaborating with teachers, staff, and families to ensure full access to curriculum and resources
- Traveling between 1-2 school sites (approximately 20 minutes apart) as needed to support student participation
- Engaging in preparatory and wrap-up activities on designated days before the academic year begins
- Upholding ethical standards and promoting accessibility in all aspects of school life
