Bring your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) to support students in dynamic educational settings! Two contract opportunities are now seeking compassionate and skilled Sign Language Interpreters who are dedicated to helping students thrive academically and socially.
The first opportunity is supporting high school students, offering 35 hours per week with a schedule from 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM. The second role focuses on the elementary level, providing 30 hours per week with hours from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM—initially based in Oroville but transitioning to Roseville next school year. Both settings present the chance to make a lasting impact on students’ educational journeys.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings highly preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to student success
- Capability to interpret educational content and facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Associates degree or higher and appropriate certification for educational interpreting roles
- Flexibility to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, confidential, and effective sign language interpretation in classroom and school environments
- Foster clear communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, educators, and peers
- Support academic engagement and encourage participation in all classroom activities
- Adhere to professional guidelines for interpreters in educational settings
- Adjust communication methods as needed to meet students’ unique language needs
